Welcome to this year’s George Mattson’s Uechi SummerFest, the best Uechi event of the year!

 

This year’s SummerFest will be hosted at the beautifully remodeled Double-Tree by Hilton, Manchester Downtown (August 16th and 17th, 2019) in Manchester, NH.

 

Parking Options

  • Street side parking (on Elm Street) is an option. On Saturdays, the meters are not in operation – so the parking is free.
  • Everyone participating in SummerFest will enjoy a $6 per day parking fee at the parking garage (located on Granite Street). This is different than a parking pass – if the car leaves and then comes back, a second $6 charge will occur.
  • Everyone staying at the hotel will enjoy a $12 per day parking pass. The guests will have a parking pass which the vehicle can drive in and out of the garage constantly.

 

When you first arrive at the Double-Tree, please make your way to the registration table. Here you will receive your wristbands and handouts that will keep you organized for the weekend and provide you access to the training hall. Friday morning’s Instructors Training will begin at 9:00am in the the Armory section of the hotel. The order of presenters will be:

  • George Mattson
  • Neil Stone
  • Marcus Traynor
  • Buzz Durkin
  • Marie Abbott
  • Christine Bannon-Rodrigues

Friday afternoon’s Training with Judans will begin promptly at 12:30pm. Participants will be divided by rank and the presenters will work with each group for forty-five minutes. The sequence of Judan presenters will be:

  • 12:30pm to 1:30pm: John Cierri
  • 1:30pm to 3:30pm: Bob Bethoney and James Thompson
  • 3:30pm to 5:30pm: George Mattson (with Allan Azoff) and Buzz Durkin

Friday’s Masters’ Test will begin promptly at 6:30pm in the Armory section of the hotel. Name tags will allow everyone access to the test.

Friday’s Masters’ Banquet will begin at 8:00pm in the Ballroom. The dress code for this event is “Casual Elegance.” Please CLICK HERE for the current Table Setup for the banquet. Please make any corrections no later than Thursday, August 8th.

Saturday’s Morning Training begins promptly at 8:00am. Junior Training will be in the Ballroom and the adult training in the Armory. Your wristband color determines what room you will be in for the morning. For the convenience of all participants, presenters will rotate from room to room. At 10:30am, we will pause all training for a group photo in the foyer, just outside the Ballroom. We will also have several tables set up for the purpose of autographs, T-Shirt sales, Book sales and promotion of upcoming events.

Saturday’s Buffett Lunch will be provided for all presenters and all-day training participants. This will be served in the Ballroom at 11:00am for juniors and at 11:30am for adults. If you would like an additional Lunch ticket, please CLICK HERE.

Our photographer, Pam Pitman, will have her photo station available at 1:00pm. Very popular options are generation photos, which include your martial arts lineage. All are welcome, and George Mattson will be available for photos from 1:30 to 2:30pm

Saturday Afternoon’s Training will begin promptly after lunch, After each seminar, presenters will sit at one of the tables in the Ballroom to answer any questions you may have. You will see, from the map, that we are color-coding the sections of the training area. This will be reinforced with flags.  Junior participants have designated Q&A with George Mattson (1:00pm), Buzz Durkin (1:45pm), Bob Bethoney (2:30pm) and Christine Bannon-Rodrigues (3:15pm).

At 4:00pm, we will host our Bonus Seminars in the following rooms:

  • Piscataquog: Jim Deluca and Jay Mansfield – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
  • Merrimack: Ed Melaugh – Small Circle Jujitsu
  • Contoocock: Matt Brown and Dan Dovidio – Pressure points in Uechi

The Graduation Ceremony will begin at 5:30pm in Armory section of the hotel, followed by a kids friendly cocktail hour.
